The Detroit Pistons needed multiple guys to step up with Andre Drummond out injured against the Houston Rockets, and that was exactly what happened. It wasn’t always sexy or textbook, but the Pistons played a strong and energetic final 36 minutes in an impressive seven point victory at Little Caesars Arena Saturday evening.
Six Detroit players scored in double figures led by Tobias Harris with 27 on just 15 shots. Dwight Buycks continued his strong showing with the big club by scoring 16 points (4-of-5 from deep) in 22 minutes. Eric Moreland did a little bit of everything in 36 minutes. Ish Smith only played 26 minutes, however, he made several important plays and was key in helping put the finishing touches on the game.
Houston, despite not having James Harden, had their opportunities all game but couldn’t get it going from downtown, as they only connected on 15-of-47 (31.9%). Chris Paul assisted on 13 baskets but could only muster five field goals of his own. Avery Bradley hounded Paul, and then hounded him some more. It was surely one of those games where having Avery Bradley on your side was much better than not having him at all.
Question for the DBB crowd: WHAT’D YOU SAY ABOUT ERIC MORELAND?!?!?!!!?
More to come on this game later.
