Blake Griffin scores career-high 50 points and Twitter couldn’t get enough

Griffin becomes sixth Piston to score at least 50 points

NBA: Philadelphia 76ers at Detroit Pistons Rick Osentoski-USA TODAY Sports

Blake Griffin scored a career-high 50 points Tuesday night at Little Caesars Arena. Griffin’s Detroit Pistons beat a very good Philadelphia 76ers team 133-132 in overtime. Griffin scored the game-tying basket in overtime. Griffin scored the game-winning free throw on the and-one. Blake Griffin is good.

Wow.

Griffin became the sixth Piston in history to score at least 50 points with the last being Rip Hamilton’s 51 in 2006. Other members of the exclusive club were Jerry Stackhouse (01), Kelly Tripucka (83), Dave Bing (71) and George Yardley twice (58).

More fun with arbitrary numbers!

Griffin’s line of 50 points, 14 rebounds and six assists have only been matched or bested by nine players in NBA history. Russell Westbrook did it in 2017, James Harden in 2016, Michael Jordan three times, Bob McAdoo, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar four times, Wilt Chamberlain 12 times, Rick Barry, and Elgin Baylor five times.

That is some good company.

Here are some Tweets reacting to Blake’s performance.
