Luke Kennard could be very close to a return to the Pistons lineup after it was announced by the Grand Rapids Drive that he will make a rehab start for the team on Friday. They released the news on their Twitter account.

It is not known how many games Kennard will spend with the Drive, but I would imagine it is only going to be a couple games. This is a great use of the Pistons G-League affiliate and they have done this in the past, most notably with Brandon Jennings when he was working his way back from his torn Achilles back in 2015.
This is a rehab assignment and not a player being demoted to the G-League, it is important to make that clear because of how touchy of a subject Luke Kennard is to Pistons fans who wanted Donovan Mitchell in the draft.
This is very good news for the Pistons because it means that Luke Kennard is likely getting close to a much-needed return to the lineup. Although Kennard has not gotten off to a great start this season, his shooting is very much needed as the Pistons continue to stay near the bottom of the league in three-point percentage.
If I had to guess on a return date for Luke Kennard with the Pistons, I would circle Wednesday’s game against the Milwaukee Bucks.
