While news has been slow in regards to the Pistons search for their general manager, the head coaching search appears to be picking up steam.
According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the Pistons want to have further conversations with former Toronto Raptors coach Dwane Casey and current University of Michigan coach John Beilein.
Detroit is interested in further conversations with former Toronto coach Dwane Casey and Michigan coach John Beilein on Pistons head coaching job, league sources tell ESPN. Both coaches have met with front office already.

The Pistons have been doing their due-diligence and interviewing a wide variety of candidates. While the process has been slow, we have been getting more news as of late which means a decision could be coming soon.
There could be more names that come out over the coming days, but these two appear to be finalists.
Those seem to be the two front-runners at this point. The search could be coming down to just them, it seems. https://t.co/dBWJlfOW3t

Hiring a coach before a GM is an interesting decision and one that a lot of fans might not agree with. However, no decision has been made on either job and the Pistons could come out of nowhere with a GM hire and then hire one of these two as coach after that. It’s not something that I would bet money on, but it is still a possibility.
With Beilein and Casey both being veteran coaches, it could mean the Pistons are targeting a younger, up-and-coming GM, to grow into the job as they have been saying throughout the process. Having a veteran coach who has been doing this for a while takes a little pressure off a new GM and allows them to focus on fine-tuning the roster.
What say you DBB? Are you happy with either of these candidates?
