Pistons add Micah Nori to round out coaching staff

Nori has relationship with Dwane Casey and Ed Stefanski as a longtime scout/coach in Toronto

The Detroit Pistons have hired Micah Nori as an assistant coach, finalizing Dwane Casey’s primary coaching staff, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN. Nori most recently served as an assistant coach with the Denver Nuggets.

He spent several years as the lead scout for the Toronto Raptors and was eventually promoted there to assistant coach. His time in Toronto overlapped with both Ed Stefasnki as an executive and Dwane Casey as head coach (for two seasons).

Eventually, he moved on from Toronto to the Sacramento Kings under Michael Malone. When Malone was hired by the Denver Nuggets he poached Nori and brought him to the Mile High City.

The move from Denver to Detroit will be somewhat of a homecoming for the Nori family as Micah’s wife Melissa is a Michigan native and Wayne State graduate who used to be a Pistons dance team member.

According to the video below Micah sorta got her fired by dating her. But I guess it was all worth it. Welcome back, Melissa!
