Pistons add former Oakland University guard Max Hooper to Summer League roster

There’s so much to love about this addition.

With injuries to Keenan Evans and Luke Kennard, the Pistons shored up their Summer League guard depth by adding Max Hooper.

Hooper played two years at Oakland and, of course, has an awesome name.

He also had one of the most fun statistical accomplishments that I’m aware of, going the entire 2015-16 season with taking a single shot for two all year, despite taking 257 three pointers. He shot 45.5 percent from three and 96 percent from the free throw stripe, missing just one of his 26 attempts.

Hooper said, “I believe I’m the best shooter in the country.”

In the two years since leaving Oakland, he’s bounced around the G League a bit but hasn’t carved out anything in the way of minutes. He joined the Wizards Summer League roster last year but didn’t see any time on the court.

It’d be nice to see a guy with local ties who has been paying his dues use a chance with the Pistons as a way to get some traction with his career. Especially because we need his name in the league.
