Every hour inches us closer to the regular season, where the games will finally count. Until then, though, the Detroit Pistons’ starters and bench lineups have to focus on gelling and the coaching staff has to determine which guy they want the front office to retain for the regular season. They should have opportunity to do that tonight against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Game Vitals:

When: October 11, 2019, 7 p.m. EST
Where: Little Caesars Arena, Detroit, MI
Watch: Fox Sports Detroit
Listen: 97.1 WXYT-FM

Analysis:

The Pistons won their last preseason game Wednesday against Dallas largely on the strength of their bench backcourt duo of Luke Kennard and Derrick Rose. So far this preseason, Kennard has been more aggressive and accurate from downtown, which is all you could’ve asked of him (and we, in fact, did).

The Detroit News’ Rod Beard had some interesting postgame quotes from Dwane Casey regarding his preseason rotation:

“I felt like those (reserve) guys needed to get some chemistry together with Blake being with us (longer). We ran it long but (Friday) may be a little different because it’s exhibition,” Casey said. “What I want to do is make sure guys feel like they have a normal rotation when they’re coming off the bench. You may have two guys on that second unit that may be fluid — with one from the first unit.

“I want them to look at the clock and mentally getting ready to play at that certain time. (Wednesday) night, it was a little closer to how we want to do it.”

I felt like Blake played entirely too much / too long on Wednesday (he played the entire third quarter and finished with a team-high 27 minutes), so that’s worth watching tonight, as well.

If you’ve got tickets for tonight’s game, it sure looks like you could get there early and pick up some Pistons swag on the cheap:

All the Eric Montross teal jerseys you could ever ask for.

Let’s have a good one tonight, y’all.
