Derrick Rose has been fined $25,000 by the NBA for throwing a pen into the stands during Monday’s overtime loss to the New Orleans Pelicans, the NBA announced.
That’s one expensive pen.
Rose let his frustrations get the best of him when it became clear Detroit’s comeback effort against the Pelicans was all for naught and his team would walk away with a loss.
Nicolo Melli hit a 21-footer to put the Pelicans up 113-107 with 37 seconds left and Dwane Casey called a timeout. As Rose walked back to the bench, he found a pen and hurled it across the court and into the stands.
Anything getting throw into the stands is a big no-no with the league.
Video of the incident is available on nba.com.
