I want y’all to know I almost, ALMOST made this the recap title:
Pistons - Celtics Recap: Detroit Squad Possessed by Benevolent Spirits Of Harlem Globetrotters in Road Win
— ♫♪ Ryan ♪♫ (@kurogane) January 16, 2020
Needless to say, it was a good night for your Detroit Pistons, as they beat the Boston Celtics 116-103. Four Pistons scored 20+ points (Derrick Rose, Sekou Doumbouya, Svi Mykhailiuk, and Markieff Morris), Andre Drummond had 13 and 13 (three steals, 10 Furnovers), and the Pistons held the Celtics to just 44 second-half points.
Derrick Rose, with 22 and six assists, orchestrated the Pistons’ victory from the beginning, as he got the start. Rose did not miss a two-pointer (!?!?), going 11-11 from inside the arc. It didn’t feel like Boston was defending Rose particularly POORLY, he was just ... getting to his spots and making shots. The same could be said of Sekou, who ALSO did not miss a shot inside the arc (8-8, 2-5 from three), who also just... kinda got to his spots and finished:
Sekou Doumbouya's comfortable off the catch left hand drive with spin. This is good methodology for hide his high height dribble/gather moment. Good to see like Siakam-ish spin move. pic.twitter.com/4o7ixvVprz

And Svi! Svi was five of eight from three tonight! That makes for career-high nights for both Svi and Sekou! The whole game was like that - the Pistons just made ALL of their shots. It’s easy to win when that happens.
So, about tonight…

Largest margin of victory at BOS since 11/3/06
60.3% FG - Highest since 4/6/10
Sekou youngest Piston ever with a 20-pt game
D-Rose with his 7th consecutive 20-pt game
Svi career-high 21 on 5/8 3PT FG
I’m not gonna overreact to this game, which was VERY fun to watch, breaks a three-game losing streak for the Pistons, and washes the taste out of Andre being ejected and benched in back-to-back games out of my mouth quite nicely. The Pistons have 15 wins on the year now, are still comfortably rebuilding, and the pieces they are rebuilding with played well. That’s really all you can ask for.
