Derrick Rose will miss several weeks with sprained ankle

Team likely to put in waiver claim on Jordan McRae

Derrick Rose will miss several weeks with a grade two ankle sprain, according to the team. Rose is expected to make a full recovery, but in the meantime the team is on the lookout for additional point guard help.

The Pistons are likely to put in a waiver claim on Jordan McRae, who was recently waived by the Denver Nuggets, according to Chris B. Haynes of Yahoo. The Phoenix Suns were reportedly interested in claiming McRae for themselves but the Pistons get priority because they have the worse record.

Bruce Brown is also hurt, but the Pistons did have Derrick Walton Jr. on a 10-day contract to help fill the free agency void. They would have to sign him to another 10-day deal but there is no sign the team intends to do so. That could mean they are ready to try and fill the role with a fresh body aka McRae.

The Pistons also have two-way player Jordan Bone who is coming off his own injury but looks to be ready to see the floor again soon.

The Rose injury makes a really bad team even worse as D Rose was the only live body capable of reliably creating his own shot and was the best creator on the team. With Rose unavailable we’re likely to see some really ugly basketball from a lot of young Detroit Pistons.

The only vets remaining in the rotation are Tony Snell in the starting lineup and Langston Galloway off the bench.

McRae would add a seasoned player to the bunch. He’s played sparingly so far but he’s already 28 years old after spending time with the Suns, Cavs, Wizards and Nuggets in his career.
