A world desperate for sports and multi-billion dollar corporations have led us to the inevitable — a televised game of HORSE. On the worldwide leader aka ESPN.
I’m distressed how much I’m looking forward to watching, and now that excitement has increased 10-fold as former Pistons legend Chauncey Billups is one of the participants.
The tournament kicks off on ESPN from 7 to 9 p.m. this Sunday and feature current NBA stars, WNBA stars and legends now employed more fully by ESPN.
The legends are the aforementioned Billups and Paul Pierce. The current NBA stars competing will be Trae Young, Zach LaVine, Chris Paul and Mike Conley. WNBA stars will be Tamika Catchings and Allie Quigley.
First round action will air Sunday with the semifinals and finals airing April 16.
Matchups
- Trae Young vs. Chauncey Billups
- Tamika Catchings vs. Mike Conley
- Zach LaVine vs. Paul Pierce
- Chris Paul vs. Allie Quigley
And for those wondering — dunking is prohibited.
Filming will occur at home locations for each player with the person describing the shot and the kind of shot (bank or swish, etc.).
I hope Billups has trick shot master Rasheed Wallace on speed dial, and I hope he’s been practicing his 40-footers or else Young might make short work of him.
