Official DBB Big Board: Pistons select Killian Hayes No. 2 for future French Connection with Sekou

Vote on who the Pistons should put No. 3 on the Big Board

The Hayes Hive narrowly won out over the Ball Brigade to earn the No. 2 spot on the Detroit Bad Boys Big Board for the 2020 NBA Draft. Hayes is viewed as either a talented player with a limited ceiling or a potential diamond in the rough with such a collection of intriguing skills that it’s worth trusting he’ll either be able to develop more physically or transcend those limitations at the next level.

Ball, meanwhile, sits atop many big boards with a combination of vision, passing ability, craftiness and ball handling that could see him become a franchise point guard — if he can manage to get past iffy mechanics, not-so-good efficiency and less-than-elite athleticism.

The No. 1 pick was no surprise — Anthony Edwards, the bulky, explosive scorer out of Georgia. The last time the Pistons drafted a player from Georgia in the lottery, it didn’t work out too bad. They wound up with Kentavious Caldwell-Pope. Of course, if Edwards was only as good as KCP (paychecks notwithstanding), it’d be viewed as a pretty big disappointment.

The battle for the third pick will be led by Ball, who was a strong No. 2 in the most recent poll. He fell just 11 votes shy of Hayes when the final results were tallied. It’s not sure thing, however, that all of the Hayes votes will fall to Ball. There was a handful of players also getting love as the No. 2 pick on the big board — James Wiseman came in third with 9% of the vote and Obi Toppin and Tyrese Haliburton came it at three and four, respectively, with 7% and 5%.

The next vote will be open until 8 p.m. on Friday. If you are reading this and you don’t see the poll, you can view the poll by clicking the link from the DBB homepage, which bypasses Google Amp and Apple News layout restrictions.
