Official DBB Big Board: Pistons select LaMelo Ball and his massive potential at No. 3

With the consensus candidates now gone things should get interesting. Who should the Pistons put No. 4 on the Big Board?

LaMelo Ball ran away with the vote for No. 3 on the official Detroit Bad Boys Big Board for the 2020 NBA Draft. With Anthony Edwards and Killian Hayes already off the board, it’s obvious Pistons fans were able to put aside any of the may legitimate red flags about what could hamper Ball and instead focus on his massive potential.

He could legitimately be a franchise cornerstone point guard and help transform one of the saddest offensive attacks of the past decade. But to do that he would need to at least figure out something as a finisher, as a shooter, as a defender. You get the idea.

In an NBA Draft with zero no-brainer choices, the closest there was to consensus choices were Edwards and Ball. Hayes snuck into the vote because every Hive Mind likes to adopt an under-the-radar player.

Now, though, it should be interesting. Ball had double the votes of any other player, and there were many players vying to come in second. The Ball vote will now disperse among them and contenders for the next pick on the Big Board seem to be Deni Avdija (17%) Tyrese Hailiburton (14%), Obi Toppin (8%) and James Wiseman (7%).

The Wiseman vote is interesting. The Pistons have a storied history of drafting big men during the past decade of irrelevance both to the delight and frustration of Pistons fans. Some fans are pining for a big that can actually be a difference maker on both ends while others seem to have used the Pistons experience and how the game has evolved over the years and crossed big men off their board completely.

The next vote will be open until 8 p.m. on Friday. If you are reading this and you don’t see the poll, you can view the poll by clicking the link from the DBB homepage, which bypasses Google Amp and Apple News layout restrictions.
