Inside The Cylinder ep. 96: Pistons get first win and start to form an identity

New, comment

Detroit’s struggles continue

NBA: Boston Celtics at Detroit Pistons Raj Mehta-USA TODAY Sports

Editor’s note: This episode was recorded on Jan. 5 and discusses the injury and prognosis of Killian Hayes before it was revealed Hayes had a hip labral tear.

In this week’s episode of Inside The Cylinder, Matt (@waymatth) and I (@THE_FERNANTULA) discuss the Pistons games from this past week. They were able to secure one win against the Celtics, but then dropped their last two to the Celtics and Bucks (the baseball series have begun!), we’ll talk about what we’ve noticed on the floor and why we’ve been pleasantly surprised, even as the losses continue to pile up.

We also talk about injuries to Josh Jackson’s ankle and Killian Hayes’ hip (Editor’s note again: Remember, this was recorded before extent of Hayes’ injury was known. We were all so innocent back then).

We discuss how Dwane Casey may have to manage how he goes about reintegrating them back into the lineup. There’s no need to rush them back into action when this team is destined for a bottom-three finish this season. We’ll take a look at some possible solutions from a rotational standpoint.

They’ll also discuss the following topics:

  • Why the Pistons should continue to pick up the pace
  • Svi for THREEEEEE
  • Detroit’s newfound identity

All that and more in this week’s episode!
