The New York Knicks seem perpetually in disarray but just maybe there is hope for this franchise if they get their lead guard back to full health and perhaps make a smart trade before the session ends. Kemba Walker looks to have regained his health at last and with Julius Randle, Norlen Noel, RJ Barrett, Evan Fornier, and a mix of others are looking pretty competitive although they will sorely miss Derrick Rose who is likely out for 2 months following ankle surgery.
With a core that is competitive refining the mix to reach and sustain a playoff run would take some shrewd dealing, but they have the draft assets to make a deal happen. They have two picks that valued as of today would represent #10 and #19 in the first round, the second pick coming by way of Charlotte. These picks and several secondary players might draw interest from the Pistons.
Just maybe a three team trade might be engineered between the Pistons, Knicks, and Grizzlies. The Pistons have Jerami Grant, Cory Joseph, Frank Jackson, Josh Jackson, Trey Lyles, and Rodney McGruder to offer. The Knicks, besides 2 first round picks, have Obi Toppin that I believe would garner considerable interest from the Pistons. The Grizzlies, have 3 first round picks, as well as Brandon Clarke and Kyle Anderson to dangle as lures.
It's fun to try to put together deals that work on the NBA Trade Machine apps but I'm going to leave my post as purely suggesting that these teams might be worth keeping an eye on. A lot probably comes down to who and how Troy Weaver sees pieces fitting together, and whether he's as enamored with adding draft picks as I am.
