Video: Derrick Rose trade reactions and what it means for roster going forward

Dennis Smith Jr. should find playing time early as another potential Detroit reclamation project

NBA: Los Angeles Lakers at Detroit Pistons Raj Mehta-USA TODAY Sports

The Detroit Pistons are trading Derrick Rose to the New York Knicks for Dennis Smith Jr. and draft compensation, according to reports by The Athletic. Rose has not played the last three games due to personal reasons, which can be assumed had to do with giving him a trade to leave Detroit.

In return, the Pistons are getting a former lottery pick in 2017 at 23-years-old in Smith Jr. He’s played in just three games this season for the Knicks and recently requested to be sent to the G-League to get more playing time. With Killian Hayes out for the foreseeable future, Smith Jr. should receive plenty of minutes behind starter Delon Wright for the rest of the season in Detroit.

In this video, I give my quick reactions and takeaways from this trade including its value, what to expect from Smith Jr. and what this can signal for the Pistons and their roster moving forward.
