It's OK to be excited now.

Hey, you know what? I agree. It's scary. The numbers indicate that these guys will need to do things they've never done before in order to be successful. But, they are doing something they've never done before. They're playing together. This team has never existed in the past, so the numbers, though meaningful, must be taken with a grain of salt if we want to make reasonable projections. The sheer number of above-average passers alone will alter how this offense works. Maybe talent will win out. At this point, I just think it will. I think they're a 4-5 seed in the East. Of course, if we can somehow trade Stuckey and a draft pick for Wilson Chandler and Anthony Randolph, I'd feel even better ...

Space time exists. Einstein was right. That's pretty cool.

Praise for Will Bynum's New Deal

from "top understated signings of free agency" at si.com... Will Bynum, Detroit Pistons (two years, $5.7 million) Though Bynum, 30, isn’t a three-point shooter and stands on the wrong side of his physical prime, this is still a cut-rate deal because of his remarkable success as a pick-and-roll practitioner in a pick-and-roll league. Bynum, who averaged 18.8 points and 6.8 assists per 36 minutes last season, made life easy for Andre Drummond and Greg Monroe by slipping past the first line of defense and into the lane. He figures to do the same for Josh Smith next season as the Pistons build out their offense and look to space the floor more effectively. That’s great news for Bynum, who did some fine work off the dribble despite most often sharing the court with only two league-average shooters. (there's video there too!)

USA Basketball - Drummond and Monroe Dominate per/36

+

Obviously the number one picks get the minutes, the headlines, and the ball... But Monroe & Drummond were the best bigs on the floor for USA Basketball... they both scored in double figures with a high quantity of rebounds in less than 20 min. Monroe only played 18 min. Drummond only played 13 min! Unfortunately they both competed harder than a normal non-defense game usually would be played, with 3 and 4 fouls, respectively. Detroit Basketball! Pistons have a dynasty in the making: "DRUMROE, PLEASE."
